vampires are a rich topic for thrillers. this book is decent, though it transitions from build-up to finished so quickly that it leaves you wondering what just happened.

lea and i finished off six feet under. after season three, it seemed hard to watch any more of the show, since it was so routinely emotionally draining to watch. it all picked up though, lightening up a little, and substituting a little more funny and touching for a little less sad and completely screwed up. i recommend it to anyone who has not seen it, with the caveat that you’ve got to be ready for the screwed up stuff.
we also watched a little “remembering six feet under” show after we finished the series. as is the case with any supplementary material (i.e. the kind of stuff you find on DVD bonus discs), the actors and directors and writers and everyone else involved in the show gushed about how singular and special the show is/was. i agree that the show was good, even great, but using superlatives is rarely called for. granted, the gushing is what you’re asking for, if you’re watching the bonus material.
