new toys for the computer

i just purchased myself some sweet, sweet toys. if you know me, you could probably already guess that the lion’s share of any toys i would purchase would be computer related. first on the list was a new monitor, and i splurged a bit to pick up a 19″ flat panel. to accompany this purchase, and to make sure i could fill all 1280×1024 pixels on it with decent speed, i picked up a new graphics card as well. between these two items, and some more ram, my computer should age gracefully into the near future. an add-on benefit to the graphics card purchase was that it has tv-out, and we can now watch missed TV episodes on the TV, and avoid all the monitor-rotating nonsense that went on before.

there’s not much else to talk about that’s interesting, unless you’re interested in hearing about world of warcraft, which you’re not.

a so-so road / buddie movie. you can probably skip this one.

deadwood, season 1

this western tv series is a smoldering collection of fascinating characters. the “good” people are all flawed, and the “evil” ones all have their good points, too. swearengen, in particular, is a force whenver he is on the screen, and it is not hard to believe that the town revolves around him. i can’t wait to see how the second season unfolds.
